Expo 2023 – Episode 09 – Whiteboard Session: Valvetrain

Lake Speed Jr and Ben Strader are joined by Bill Godbold for a whiteboard education session on troubleshooting valvetrain issues.

Using the Expo Engine they built as an example, the guys go through the lofting problem Ben found with the Spintron in Episode 8, and whiteboard what’s happening in the valvetrain so they can pinpoint what’s causing it to lose power above a certain RPM.

The guys discuss some best practices, trade their own experiences, and come up with possible ways to “fix the bounce.” (Billy’s tip: More cowbell is not always the right solution.)

A definite master class in engine performance troubleshooting.
