For this session Billy Godbold of Godbold Engineering and Digital Metrology’s Mark Malburg deliver a master class in surface finish and how the “two sisters” of surface – form and finish – affect the function of nearly every engine component.
Using a whiteboard to illustrate, the pair discuss the six surface finishes found in performance engines and the right processes for determining which one(s) are right for your engine (hint: you can’t know what finish you want until you’ve figured out everything from the engine application down to the rings and oil you’ll be using).
The guys break down in plain language the major factors you need to know, and reveal a whole bunch of information that you won’t find in books, but you will through experience, measurement, and familiarity with your engine.
