In this episode we look at how much surface finish changes between a freshly honed block and after its first break-in run.
Lake Speed Jr heads over to PME Engines where they’ve got one of Lake’s dad’s (Lake Speed Sr) Ford C3 NASCAR blocks freshly honed and ready for assembly.
With a focus on the Rpk (peak) values, Lake takes us through measuring the surface finish in the unassembled block, again after assembly, and finally after a 30-minute dyno run.
He also provides some insight on what you should be looking for in the best surface finish – one that helps ensure there’s the right amount of oil in the right place at the right time – to ensure optimal engine operations and longevity.
